The treasury department has put together an educational initiative aimed at improving the financial literacy of Americans.

As part of this effort, a new site featuring an online game called “The Bad Credit Hotel” offers users an opportunity to experience the unfortunate realities of having bad credit.  This is a great idea, but I must admit, I find it to be a bit creepy for my taste.  Kind of reminds you of Psycho… but maybe that’s what they were going for?

The campaign also includes some PSA (public service announcements) that have started to run thanks to the Ad Council. The TV spots (unlike the bad credit hotel website) are actually kind of funny.
